McIntosh Trail Early Childhood Development Council, Inc., (MCECDC) is a nonprofit organization serving children and families across seven counties in North Central Georgia:
Butts, Henry, Lamar, Upson, Newton, Pike, and Spalding.
Founded in 1981 by Cynthia Jones, McIntosh Trail ECDC was formed when local citizens came together to create an organization eligible for federal funding after the previous Head Start operator closed in 1980.
What We Do
Today, McIntosh Trail ECDC sponsors:
• 25 Head Start classrooms (funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services)
• 8 Pre-Kindergarten classrooms (funded by Bright from the Start, Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning)
We serve a funded enrollment of 470 children annually.
While Head Start and Pre-K are funded by different sources, all families receive the same high-quality services.
We also offer Child Development Associate (CDA) Competency-Based Classes each year, supporting the professional growth of early childhood educators.
Our Team
McIntosh Trail ECDC employs over 180 dedicated staff members across our seven-county service area. Our central office is located in Jackson, Georgia.
To provide opportunities that empower and
develop self-sustainability.
